Meet the 2025 Faces of Sola image

The Faces of Sola program celebrates the independent salon owners who make up our vibrant community of 20,000+ beauty professionals. Since 2015, we’ve had the honor of showcasing industry leaders who are not only masters of their craft but also educators, entrepreneurs, and mentors shaping the future of beauty.

Each year, a new group of Solapreneurs is chosen to represent what it means to be part of Sola—embodying creativity, determination, and the freedom that comes with salon ownership. Their stories inspire and empower others to chase their dreams, build thriving businesses, and make an impact in the industry.

Now, we’re thrilled to introduce the 12 NEW Faces of Sola for 2025! Get ready to be inspired...

Miko Gemuchu | Portland, OR

Miko Gemechu is located at Sola Lloyd in Portland, Oregon and has built a thriving career over nearly a decade in the beauty industry, specializing in extensions and natural hair. As a traveling celebrity stylist, she has worked with artists and athletes such as Drake, Amine, Carmelo Anthony, and Sha’Carri Richardson. Her expertise has led to collaborations with major brands like Nike and Richard Mille, further cementing her influence in beauty and fashion.

Beyond styling, Miko launched her own hair extension line, CrownedByMiks Collection, and mentors aspiring hairstylists through one-on-one extension courses. We can’t wait to continue to watch you thrive, Miko!

“My commitment to excellence has allowed me to work with top-tier vendors, collaborate with local beauty schools and establish myself as a trusted professional in the industry. I’m excited for the opportunity to continue inspiring and elevating others in this amazing community!”

Trevor Drenik | Kansas City, MO

Trevor Drenik, a hairstylist at Sola Salons South Plaza in Kansas City, MO, has been in the industry for over a decade. A two-time winner and runner-up for "Best Hairstylist of KC," he trained with Aveda in cutting and color before earning certifications in extensions and keratin treatments.

Passionate about education, Trevor travels frequently to attend industry events and hair shows. Last year, he took a leap and opened his own studio at Sola Salons to mark his 10-year milestone. After working at three prestigious salons, he was ready to create something of his own... and the rest is history!

“I was so scared to step out on my own, but after working at 3 prestigious salons, it was time. I’m so grateful for my years behind the chair and the clients who have become my family. I love coming into my studio and I’m proud to show off my work—Sola has made that possible.”

Lauren Middleton | Charlotte, NC

Lauren Middleton, hairstylist at Sola Rivergate in Charlotte, NC, began her journey behind the chair after a corporate layoff and her mother’s battle with medical-related hair loss. Determined to restore confidence in women facing similar struggles, she found her true calling through hairstyling, extensions, and hair loss solutions.

In 2016, with just six clients and a leap of faith, Lauren opened her own Sola salon suite. Since then, she has built a thriving business, partnering with The Pink House Charlotte Breast Friends and the VA to provide custom wigs for cancer patients and veteran women experiencing hair loss.

Beyond styling, Lauren is dedicated to elevating the industry. She has developed a line of styling products, introduced luxury head spa services, and created educational resources to help stylists grow. Through her insurance training course, she empowers beauty professionals to become medical providers for hair loss clients.

"Sola gave me the freedom to build a business that truly changes lives. It’s more than a salon—it’s a place where passion meets purpose. If you’re ready to take the leap, trust yourself. Sola provides the tools, but success comes from believing in your own potential."

Cortney Prentice | Port Credit, Mississauga, Canada

Cortney Prentice, hairstylist at Sola Port Credit in Mississauga, Canada, has been in the beauty industry for over 20 years. She started her bridal business 10 years ago and has since expanded her services, now leading a team of 16 artists. Alongside offering on-site bridal hair and makeup and cut/color services at Blush Avenue Studio, Cortney launched the Blush Avenue Collective in 2024. This new venture focuses on coaching and online courses, specifically for bridal artists and suite renters looking to grow their businesses with ease.

Cortney’s journey to Sola began after returning from maternity leave, where she started part-time and quickly transitioned to full-time due to the supportive and collaborative environment at Sola. Her dedication to educating and empowering other professionals is evident in her development of courses tailored for bridal artists, suite owners, and working parents alike! We are excited to be a part of your journey, Cortney, and couldn’t be luckier to have you represent our Canadian Sola family!

"Being part of the Sola community has been a game-changer. It gave me the flexibility to grow my business, all while maintaining the work-life balance I craved after becoming a mom. Sola’s supportive environment allowed me to expand my bridal business... I truly believe Sola is a space where dreams can become reality, and I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing community."

Being a part of Sola has empowered Madison to build her business on her own terms, and she emphasizes the importance of client care, professionalism, and continuous growth. She encourages fellow tattoo artists and independent professionals to believe in themselves, invest in business knowledge, and never stop growing creatively.

"Sola has been an incredible community to be a part of. The support, freedom, and resources have allowed me to grow both as an artist and as a business owner. Being surrounded by so many talented, like-minded individuals has been inspiring, and the ability to run my own studio has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else."

Fred Moore | Shelby Township, MI

Fred Moore, a licensed cosmetologist in Michigan and Georgia, has built a career specializing in non-surgical hair restoration, men’s grooming, braids, dreadlocks, and custom hairpieces for hair loss. He is certified in six hair extension methods, offering a wide range of services to his clients.

Fred’s journey in the beauty industry began at Paul Mitchell The School Michigan and led him to Sola Salons, where he found the perfect space to grow his brand and work with amazing clients. Having his own suite has given him the creative freedom to build a high-profile clientele, including celebrities and athletes, and collaborate with brands like Hanz de Fuko and Bold Hold.

Recognized for his talent, Fred won first place at the 2019 Paul Mitchell Hair Show and was a 2020 Beacon Award winner. His passion for education and mentorship drives him to guide others in the industry while continuing to transform clients’ hair.

Krystal Grube | Eugene, OR

Krystal Grube, owner of Mankind Gentlemen’s Grooming at Sola Eugene in Oregon, began her career in 2006 at cosmetology school in Atlanta, Georgia. After obtaining her master cosmetology license in 2008, she worked at a high-end men's salon and spa before transitioning to owning her own business. Krystal’s vision was to bring a similar high-end experience for men to Eugene, Oregon, where she and her husband relocated in 2015 after a cross-country journey.

In 2020, Krystal found the perfect space at Sola Eugene and launched Mankind Gentlemen’s Grooming. The Sola community has allowed her to build a business that offers a full range of men’s services, including haircuts, facials, shaves, and waxing, while achieving the work-life balance she desired.

Krystal continues to invest in her education, attending hair shows and training at places like Old School Barber Academy in the Netherlands and Reuzel University in Denver. In 2023, she was recognized as one of the top three barbers in the Sola Pro Awards Barber category!

“Being a part of Sola has given me the space and freedom to create the exact ambiance and services I wanted for my clients. The support from the community has been incredible, and it’s allowed me to focus on what I do best while maintaining a balanced lifestyle.”

Larissa Engel | Wausau, WI

Larissa Engel’s passion for hair and beauty started early—styling her friends' hair before school, at dances, and even for weddings before she ever set foot in beauty school. Her journey officially began in 2016, working at salons to gain hands-on experience before earning her cosmetology license in 2019.

After years of working behind the chair and growing her skills, Larissa took the leap into salon ownership at Sola Wausau in 2022. She quickly expanded into a larger studio in 2023 to accommodate her growing clientele. Beyond the chair, she has made an impact in the beauty industry through social media, with viral TikTok videos reaching millions of views. She manages social media for multiple Sola locations across Wisconsin, helping beauty professionals connect with their communities. In addition to attending advanced trainings and industry events, she also teaches hair classes for the 55+ community at her local YMCA. Is there anything she can’t do?!

“Sola has given me the freedom to run my business my way while being surrounded by an incredible community of beauty professionals. I love that I can grow both behind the chair and online, creating a career that’s truly my own.”

Kristina Dunn | San Diego, CA

With 18 years of experience behind the chair and 12 as an educator, Kristina Dunn is a force in the hair industry. Specializing in vivid color transformations—what she calls “mermaid hair”—and blonding, she has traveled across the U.S., Europe, and Australia as an international platform artist and educator for Danger Jones. Her expertise has earned her a spot on Modern Salon’s Top 100 list, two Behind the Chair nominations, and sponsorships with Brazilian Bondbuilder and Leaf & Flower.

Kristina’s studio, hair, and social media presence are the embodiment of a creative’s dream—bold, inspiring, and full of artistry. While she thrives on independence, Kristina loves that Sola gives her the best of both worlds—a private space to create while still feeling part of a supportive community. She believes in building trust through honesty, both with her clients and fellow beauty professionals.

"Sola is the first place I’ve worked where I truly feel at home. I have complete freedom and independence, yet I’m surrounded by an incredible community of like-minded professionals. It’s the perfect balance of support and self-sufficiency."

Brendnetta Ashley | Pleasanton, CA

As an artist for Schwarzkopf, she has worked on various campaigns, most recently the Global Essential Looks for 2024. She continues to inspire other stylists with her bold, creative approach to hair while always prioritizing healthy, beautiful curls.

In addition to her impressive work behind the chair, Brendnetta has built a strong social media presence with nearly 20k followers on Instagram, showcasing her stunning portfolio and creative color work.

"Being part of the Sola community has allowed me to elevate my artistry and creativity in ways I never imagined. It’s a space where I can continue pushing boundaries and connect with like-minded professionals who inspire me every day."

Stacey Buckner

Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Stacey Buckner is a double board-certified nurse practitioner and the founder of Simply Beautiful Metaesthetics. With 20 years of experience in the medical field, Stacey’s journey into aesthetics began after she returned to school to become a nurse practitioner. Since then, her passion for aesthetics has grown, and in October 2023, she opened her own practice at Sola Salons.

Stacey’s growth at Sola has been remarkable—what began as a single room has expanded to three suites, including a waiting room and two treatment rooms. She values the family atmosphere at Sola and the sense of togetherness that comes with being surrounded by like-minded business owners.

Her success is a testament to her dedication and hard work. In just a short time, Stacey’s practice has grown to nearly 1,000 patients, and she has been nominated for Best Medical Spa, Best Aesthetic Provider, and Best Weight Loss Center in Chattanooga.

"Being part of the Sola community has been an incredible blessing. It's a space that has allowed me to be my authentic self, grow my business, and connect with other entrepreneurs. I’ve built a thriving business here, and I wouldn’t trade the family atmosphere at Sola for anything. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to share my story and hope to inspire others to take the leap into business ownership, just as I did."
